16 August, Kathmandu. With Suryakumar Yadav's brilliant batting performance, India has entered the Super Four by winning the second match in a row in the Asia Cup Cricket being held in UAE.
India defeated Hong Kong by 40 runs in Group A match on Wednesday night.
Earlier, India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets and reached the top four by winning two consecutive matches and adding 4 points. Afghanistan has already reached the Super Four after winning two matches from Group B.
Dubai Cricket Ground After Hong Kong won the toss and chose to field, India scored 192 runs for the loss of 2 wickets with the half-centuries of Suryakumar and Virat Kohli. The pair shared an unbeaten 98 runs in the last seven overs.
Suryakumar hit 6 fours and 6 sixes in 26 balls and scored an unbeaten 68 runs. Virat hit 1 four and 3 sixes while scoring 59 unbeaten runs in 44 balls.
Before that, captain Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul shared a partnership of 38 runs for the first wicket. Rahul and Virat shared 56 runs for the second wicket. Rahul scored 36 runs and Rohit scored 21 runs. Hong Kong's Ayush Shukla and Mohammed Eijanpar took one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 193 runs in reply, Hong Kong scored 152 runs against Test nation India for the loss of 5 wickets. Babar Hayat of Hong Kong scored 41 with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes while playing 35 balls and Kinchit Shah scored 30 runs in 28 balls.
Jishan Ali scored an unbeaten 26 while Scott McKenzie remained unbeaten in 16 balls.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Ravindra Jadeja and Arshdeep Singh took one wicket each for India.
